How do I participate?

Participating in Clinical Trials

If you are interested in receiving first rate medical care by participating in a trial, you've come to the right place! The focus of ClinLife is to match patients and study volunteers to trials.

The easiest way to participate is to sign up with us. Once you are signed up, and have completed your search profile, we can recommend different studies for you. It's then up to you to actually register for a study. If you do register, your contact details are forwarded to one of our partner sites. Note that we are an independent organization, not affiliated with any particular investigator (doctor) or site (hospital/clinic). While our partner sites pay us to publish studies, it is our policy to be unbiased toward sites. Therefore, your details are automatically forwarded to the closest site performing the trial you are interested in.

It is then up to the site to contact you. Since sites are continuously and actively looking for study volunteers, this should happen quickly. Usually this involves them asking you a few questions about your health status, your medical history and your available time. The sites ask you these questions to determine if you are potentially eligible for the trial. If this "preliminary screening" finds you suitable for the trial, you will probably be asked to visit the site. Note that your time and travel expenses may well be covered.

Once you are at the site, the investigator (doctor) will interview you. Before you are asked to participate, an investigator is always required to explain the purpose of the trial, it's benefits and risks and the exact procedure that will be followed. All these facts are reflected in the "Informed Consent" form, which you will be asked to read and understand. Make sure you ask plenty of questions!

Once all your questions are answered and you feel good about proceeding, you will be asked to sign the Informed Consent Form. Note that this is not actually a contract - you can withdraw from the trial at any time.

While this process may sound complicated, it has been designed to provide the safest and most ethical access to clinical trials for volunteers. Since your participation is the most critical element in the completion of a trial, every effort is made to make participation as easy as possible. If you have any questions about this process, feel free to contact us.

Don't forget to sign up!
