Chemotherapeutics kills cancer cells.

5-Fluorouracil, 5FU winds down the production of DNA in order to stop the division of cancer cells. 5FU also affects healthy cells, inhibiting their repair function. This leads to a tantalised mucous membrane (oral, digestive, conjunctiva - raw mouth, diarrhea, feeling unwell), dermal transformation and loss of hair.

Hormonal therapy

  • Gestagens are female hormones that can suppress male hormones (Androgens). The growth of tumour cells can be inhibited by Gestagens.
  • Antiandrogens inhibit the effect of Androgens and prevent further tumour growth.
  • Tamoxifen prevents the tumours growth, stimulated by the hormone oestrogen.

Immunotherapeutics activates the immune system to fight against the tumour cells:

  • Interferon-alpha is a messenger who activates the immune system in to killing tumour cells.
  • Interleukin 2 is a messenger who generates the production of antibodies. Antibodies mark foreign cells for elimination.
  • IMA901 is a new vaccine. He imitates specific surfaces of renal cell cancer cells and activates the immune system to produce antibodies.

Biologicals are active ingredients, similar to the body's own cell messengers:

  • Sorafenib slows down the division of cells.
  • Sunitinib brakes down the division of cells.
  • Temsirolimus inhibits messengers in tumour cells and blood vessels and prevents their proliferation.
